The 'thesis' of the book is centered around the notion that a society pursuing gender equality, which benefits everyone, brings about peace and prosperity in all areas of society. While it is not necessarily a panacea, putting the moral aspect aside momentarily, equality may help solve many of the problems we struggle with such as crime, addiction, poverty, and war.
To be clear things like sexism and a gender pay gap exist in Iceland as do many other imperfections. It is by no means a utopia. They are still struggling to narrow their gender gap and have unequal pay. I travelled to Iceland to get a feel for thing on the ground and find out what people with a “better chance” were thinking. The book explores those that. The book includes stories from people from a broad spectrum of disciplines from music to psychology to finance, education, and government.
