Marko Matysik is a fashion designer, illustrator and contributing editor to Vogue. Since the early 2000's he has been making personal scrap books compiled of notes, photographs and sketches of the models and designers backstage at fashion shows, aiming to record the whole process by which the model prepares to step out onto the runway. After editing the photographs, with his assistant in London, and collaging them into hardback sketchbooks these scrap books are sent to Vogue's offices around the world before being returned to the designer.  A collection of these sketchbooks have now been acquired by and housed in the V&A Museum, London.

Marko's  fashion illustrations are internationally recognised and are highly collectable. They have graced the pages of Vogue and many other fashion bibles, examples of which can be seen at the V&A inside his sketchbooks.

  • We have curated our selection panel from members of Baby Forest - all are professionals and well established in their careers, practicing creators in their own right - they know the score, they know how hard you work, they know the pitfalls, the highs and the lows and are looking simply for great work and to identify Award Winners who they feel will benefit from being part of Baby Forest.  We know not everyone can be selected, but we will certainly be supporting and championing great entries - shortlisters will take place in a group exhibition - and we will be highlighting entries that reflect the Baby Forest mark of quality and excellence on our social media channels along the way.

We like to work in partnership with each creator to help them make the best of being part of our creative colony - and as well as being well respected in their fields, each member of our panel are keen collaborators and mentors always willing to give something back.

Richard Lloyd Lewis is a UK based photographer who has worked commercially since 1996 for the Publishing, Editorial, Advertising and Music Industry. Clients range from HHCL, Banks Hoggins O'Shea, RKCR Y&R and Ogilvy to name a few in the Advertising field to various high profile acts in the music industry. Working from his studio in South London, Lewis specialised in set design, constructing and photographing surreal interiors involving people and objects, some years later he took his brand of unique image making out on location. Having cut his teeth in the commercial world his passion is still routed in documentary projects that investigate subjects that hide or are hidden away from the public gaze. His latest project 'code name: burlington', resulted in gaining privileged access to the top secret underground city that would have housed the government and royal family had the cold war resulted in a nuclear hit on the UK.

  • And just in case you want to know more about us!

We are BabyForest a Creative Colony,  built ‘By Creators for Creators and Lovers of Creativity'

We are an Independent, self curated platform where Artists & Artisans, Creators, Makers, Innovators, and Creative Explorers can connect, collaborate, exhibit, present, promote and sell their work.

We are building a new kind of cultural, creative and social experience, a creative eco-system for both creator and audience, for connection and exchange both on and offline. Our aim is to become an identity that is recognised for quality, integrity and autonomy, where creators and supporters connect directly.

We are carving out a new space where audience, cultural supporters, curators, gallerists, collector/customer and creator can come together in one place. Where an audience has direct access to creators and their work.  A place that fuses individual showcase/presentation spaces, with creator managed e-gallery and shops, curated exhibitions, editorial features and news with broadcasting, social sharing and curation tools.

Behind the scenes, we collaborate, swap skills, share resources and enjoy an open dialogue with a network of international peers. Front of house, we invite our audience into the colony to enjoy, experience, and buy our work.  Within Baby Forest, the creator is self empowering, self- sufficient, and receives the ‘lion’s share' of the income generated from their creative output.  (85% from all sales). The colony provides a meaningful identity from which the member can manage and grow their reputation and audience, in a space allied with quality and integrity - one that respects and reflects the talent and high standards of each individual's work.

Pioneered by creators internationally (seeded in New York, L.A, Berlin, London, Iceland, France, Ireland, Tokyo & Sydney), Baby Forest Creators are selected by the invitation of their peers or by an application process where creators recognise and acknowledge the quality and talent of other creators.  As creator members of Baby Forest, artists, makers and creators are joining forces to define and build a multi-disciplinary, culturally meaningful colony identity.

We are at the very start of this exciting journey - we are inviting you to be part of something fresh and exciting - an Independent alternative !
