“For the last few years I have been fascinated with rubber as a ‘ground’ for my work.  Using rubber sheets as a replacement for the more traditional canvas allows for the new and unexpected. On the dense and matt black surface, several layers of paint are required to build up its luminosity. It renders exciting results. The rubbers natural, slightly undulated surface, allows the work to be experienced not only as a painting but as an object in its own right. I like to explore and push boundaries further by moulding and forming the painted rubber surfaces into sculptures.”
