Roman Sakovich was born in Lithuania in 1986. At the age of 19 he moved to the UK and now lives in London.

Roman started practicing photography at the age of 16 and he hasn't stopped taking photographs since. He received a BA in Commercial Photography at the Arts University in Bournemouth in 2011, the year he also won the IdeasTap/Magnum Photographic Award which, along with the prize money, awarded him an internship in New York with the Magnum Photographic agency where he gained valuable insight from one of the worlds' most prestigious photographic organisations.

Sakovich's work is now highly acclaimed by leading galleries and design agencies, and is exhibited and published around the globe.  He continues to work on personal projects alongside his commissioned work and is currently working towards an exhibition for the Venice Architecture Biennale.

  • REPRESENTATIONS

    ROMAN SAKOVICH

  • Roman Sakovich's  images demand the viewer to participate in his world.

These are personal images made to satisfy Roman’s own curiosity and make little concession to the viewer. We, the audience, have to work to draw out the subtle statements in this minimal world.

While equally happy working in colour or monochrome, it is the colour images that display Roman’s personal vision most directly. These images are meditations on place with the points of colour just drawing us back into a cool and mostly silent reality.

Sakovich's work leaves the audience with a stark choice; walk away or enter on the artist’s terms to experience a refined and unique vision.
