Susan Fletcher is a British artist based on the Kent coast. Her work explores the ever changing fragile human conditions through installation, sculpture and light. She started her studies in Theatre Design, moving on to Fashion and Textiles, which she studied at Birmingham University. She worked with leading designers in Paris and London and went on to run her own fashion design business, Fletcher Joyce, with clients such as The Rolling Stones, George Michael and The Pet Shop Boys.
Susan studied MA Fine Art at the University for the Creative Arts at Canterbury and graduated with distinction in 2013. Following her graduation she was awarded the first graduate artist residency at the university and has since gone on to develop work that has extended her practice, both in the studio and in the public realm.
Susan is the co-founder of Article10, an artist-led group pioneering innovative approaches to public art in public spaces.
‘A fundamental believer in the value of collaboration and sharing of practice, Susan has developed a series of highly successful regional platforms for artists to engage in the exchange of ideas.’ Dr Terry Perk, UCA.
As well as passionately evolving her own practice, Susan works in close collaboration with the artist Aidan Gray, producing installation and light sculpture under the name FLETCHERGRAY. They are currently Creative Directors for Littoral Light II.
