Steve Moberly was born in Keynsham in 1972.
He didn’t grow eyebrows until the age of fifteen. Flippant as it seems, believe it – it shaped the man.
“Many people have taken the easy route of striving and working hard to get where they are today. I have fought my way through a considerably more difficult path, that of privilege and lethargy” Is one of his less fine moments.
He lives and works in Bournemouth
This year he has been selected for the John Moores Painting Prize 2016
In his home town he picked up the best visual arts event award for his exhibition ‘Insider Planting’ as part of the Bournemouth Emerging Artist Fringe Festival 2015.
Other career highlights include being selected along with ten other artists for ‘Emergency’ Aspex in Portsmouth’s open call exhibition in 2015, being chosen for the Platform award at the same venue in 2014 and the invitation exhibition ‘Best of the West’ at the Pound Arts centre, Corsham.
In 2012 in a children’s playground he went partially blind for ten minutes which has proved an invaluable experience for mixing space killing neutral greys.
